A former broadcaster with Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” and her security guard have been brutally murdered at her residence in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The tragic incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Sunday when unknown assailants invaded the residence. The body of the security guard was found inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s lifeless body was discovered in her apartment.
Preliminary findings indicated signs of forced entry into the property, while the deceased’s vehicle was reportedly missing, raising suspicions of robbery and homicide.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command said detectives were immediately deployed to the scene after a resident alerted authorities to suspicious activities at the residence.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the case was reported at the Owode Egba Division on June 21, prompting a full-scale investigation.
“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television personality, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard,” Babaseyi stated.
He added that Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has directed an intensive investigation to identify, track and apprehend those responsible for the killings.
Police say surveillance and intelligence-driven operations have been expanded across relevant locations as efforts continue to unravel the circumstances surrounding the double murder.
The command expressed condolences to Oyesiku’s family, the OGTV community, media practitioners, and other affected persons, assuring the public that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide any information that may assist investigators in solving the case.
